The Siamese fighting fish (Betta splendens), also known as the "betta fish" or just "betta",and is one of the most popular species of freshwater aquarium fish.

It is native to the rice paddies of Thailand.

Male Bettas are known for their brilliant colors and large, flowing fins. Brilliantly colored and longer finned varieties include Veiltail; Delta; Superdelta; and Halfmoon have been developed through selective breeding.

Males are the most colourful of the breed but as there name will suggest fight if put in community tanks. They will even kill other Bettas if given a chance and due to their flowing fins are easy targets for fin nippers like barbs and tetras.

Approximate Purchase Size: Small  4cm - 5cm
